Remove the mouse balls from all of the computers in the office or dorm.
Everyone that is not informed will move the mouse and become frustrated when they are unable to make the mouse work.
Keep the balls in a box at the receptionist desk so everyone can reclaim their ball. The fact that they could be different sized depending on the model and the manufacturer will not be discussed here. I mean really, who says a prank shouldn't have multiple levels of fun?
